Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was very clear in denying that the German club has no interest in signing Norwegian star Erling Haaland from archrival Borussia Dortmund. In an interview with the newspaper “Bild”, the director said that it does not make any sense for the Bavarians to want the striker when there is already a player of the level of Robert Lewandowski in the squad.
“I don’t know where these speculations come from. But I can tell you one thing: we already have the best player in the world in the position. Robert Lewandowski has a contract until 2023. And I’m sure that with his professionalism – just look at the way he trains and takes care of the body – it’s still a long way (from leaving Bayern)”,said Rummenigge.
As for the Polish striker, Lewandowski will be out of action at Bayern for at least a month due to a knee injury. With that, in addition to the games for the German Championship, he also does not face Paris Saint-Germain, for the quarter-finals of the Champions League, this coming April. The games take place on the 7th and 13th, respectively.
