The negotiation to renew the contract between David Alaba and Bayern Munich has generated controversy, with an exchange of accusations between the player’s agent, Pini Zahavi, the club’s honorary president, Uli Hoeness, and the athlete’s father. For 12 years at Bayern, Alaba has been linked for another season, but its continuity is uncertain.
The situation made Hoeness call Zahavi greedy, saying he demanded up to 20 million euros in commission. According to the German press, the club’s honorary president even suggested a change of manager to the player.
In response, Zahavi said that he never discussed values, he just said that his fees should be respected as in any negotiation. The controversy gained even more form with Alaba’s father, who accused Bayern of spreading “dirty lies”. “I didn’t expect Bayern to publicly spread dirty lies about salary and commission claims”, he said.
